This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jools Holland @ Alnwick Castle

John Taylor kindly sent me this photo of Jools Holland and his Orchestra taken in the grounds of Alnwick Castle on Saturday evening.
He says it was an impressive event with 1000s in attendance. The evening culminated in a fireworks display.

What time did you get there for to get that close? I'm thinking of attending the Jessie J concert here on July 21st and wondered what time I'd have to arrive to be close?

Its a vast site - on the North side of the river Aln and the castle. Long delays with getting in and out of the car parks on a bumpy field track. It was all standing with the Jools gig. We took a picnic hamper and folding chairs. Everyone wanted space and there was no crushing towards the front.
