The Court of Appeal today cleared the names of Lance Liddle and Russell Corbett on charges of being drukn and dyslectic whilst compiling the North East Round-up column for Jazz UK.
Jazz UK released the following statement: "Apologies to contributors Lance Liddle and Russell Corbett for what seems to have been the over-zealous use of spellcheck which made partial mincemeat of their gig report last issue. We've got it right this time and have forced our proofreading team to take banjo lessons as punishment.
Lance, incidentally, also runs the popular jazz blog http://www.lance-bebopspokenhere.blogspot.com/ devoted to jazz in the North East, which is highly recommended. RT".
Damages were set to be agreed out of court. It is reported that pints of ale will be offered and accepted.
Lance.
(The Court Artist, Sarah R, sketched the above likeness and has been invited to share a noggin of the damages with the Plaintiff(s).)

I see a liddle cartoon coming on. I'll russell something up. Watch this space..
ReplyDeleteWhat does worry me, however, is that the proofreaders seem to be enjoying their banjo lessons...
